Ben Avram was born in Bombay in 1941 and immigrated to Israel in 1956 andstudied in Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and trained under the top Israeli Art professors Jossi Stern and Jona Mach.
Ben Avram stood out in the Academy as an artist who managed to bring together east and west, the Eastern tradition of his parents home and the Western tradition of painting taught at Bezalel. Ben Avram was then chosen to study under the famous Israeli artist Avram Ofek who was his patron. Ben Avram set up his first studio in Meah She'arim in Jerusalem in 1964. The mixture of the surrounding ultra orthodox environment together with Ben Avram's secular approach created the most amazing paintings full of Jewish mysticism and symbolism yet colorful and joyful.
